Financial donations to enable local services to support refugees and food/goods donations are needed. Donated goods in the form of starter kits are most helpful.

Donate money

If you would like to donate money to help with the resettlement efforts of Syrian refugees in Waterloo Region, please choose one of the following:

Donate a "Starter kit"

Starter kits are needed for refugee families moving from temporary shelters into their first home. The kits should be made up in quantities appropriate for four people. Read about starter kits here. There is an urgent need for the items on this list. They can be dropped at Embrace Syria at Kitchener Masjid, 1017 Victoria St. N., Kitchener. 

Donate food

Financial and food donations will be accepted at the Foodbanks. There is a special need for Halal foods, cooking oils, dry milk, tomato sauce, canned beans/fish/vegetables and dry goods (beans, rice, chickpeas, etc.) Food donations can be dropped off at:

Foodbank of Waterloo Region, 50 Alpine Court, Kitchener

Cambridge Self Help Food Bank,  54 Ainslie Street South, Cambridge

Donate clothing, household goods and furniture

Make regular donations to collection centres to support refugee and other families in Waterloo Region. Large donations of clothing, furniture and household good donations are currently not needed.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store (563 Highland Rd W, Kitchener) is accepting new or gently used clothing, household goods, small furniture items. 519-584-0818.

Cambridge Goodwill Donation Centre (130 Cedar Street - Until 33 (Westgate Plaza), Cambridge) is accepting new or gently used coats, shoes, boots, clothes, baby supplies, etc.
