Access food, clothing and furniture donations for refugees in Waterloo Region

A wealth of free food, clothing, furniture and household goods are available for refugees thanks to the generosity of Waterloo Region residents! Agencies and private sponsors are encouraged to check out our donations page for contact information and locations or get more details here. 

Request volunteers

Agencies are encouraged to utilize the wealth of volunteer capacity in Waterloo Region to help deliver their programming for Syrian refugees. Agencies in need of volunteers should provide the Volunteer Action Centre with job descriptions.

Book interpreters, fluent community navigators and settlement workers

Private sponsors and agencies may benefit from the services of trained interpreters, volunteer community navigators fluent in Arabic and other languages, and settlement workers. To understand the type of support you need in various circumstances and where to access it, read this

Trained interpreters can be booked through the K-W Multicultural Centre at 519-745-2593 or interpreters@kwmc-on.com.

Settlement workers for privately sponsored refugees can be accessed through the K-W Multicultural Centre and the YMCA Immigrant Services

Primary health care, intake and screening

As refugees arrive, call 310-CCAC x5521 and ask for Primary Care Connect for centralized intake screening, assessment and pathways to primary care.

Public Health services for refugees (Resources for primary care providers)

If you, your family or a refugee you are supporting are having difficulties accessing services or if needed interpretation is not provided by the hospital, contact patient relations
